if you follow me on twitter, you may have noticed that i’ve been a little obsessed with the new she-ra since it came out two months ago. it arrived at exactly the right time to help me through the dark times that november and december brought. i needed to believe that darkness could be turned into light. i needed to hear “we must be strong and we must be brave” at least once a day.
(i also have A Lot Of Feelings about catra, but that’s a subject for another time.)
i recently watched the third episode, in which adora - new to the whole “being an eight-foot-tall princess with a sword” thing - has left behind everything she once knew and is looking for answers about who she is and where she came from. she doesn’t know how to move forward. she tells madame razz, an old woman she found in the woods, that she wants to do the right thing but doesn’t know what it is.
razz tells her, “stop waiting for someone to tell you what the right thing to do is. you’re a smart girl. what do you think?”
it’s all very two of swords: the indecision, the lack of clarity, the call to follow your gut. it can be difficult, but this week, darlings, let’s try to quiet our minds and find a way forward.
