there is something about abundance that can be frightening, i think, at least to those of us who have had our fair share (or more) of scarcity. it takes so much time, and healing, to trust that it won’t turn to ash as soon as we touch it.
but the ten of blooms (or cups) wants us to be brave enough to accept that there is abundance in our lives. maybe it’s not the abundance we desire, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there.
i think of braiding sweetgrass and i think of the closing lines of mary oliver’s “wild geese,” where the titular creatures announce, over and over, our place in the family of things. there is always, after all, the abundance of the earth.
