the sun
vitality / joy / life //
most people i know rejoice at the lengthening days, how it is still daytime at 7 pm, but i admit they have me ill-at-ease. some of this, of course, is exhaustion from battling my own brain again, but it’s also that the fact that i am a moon-girl, more at home in the longer, colder nights of fall and winter.
(i think of june, the time near the solstice, when the sun won’t set until 9, and feel a sense of dread. it’s too much day.)
even so, i am a soft mammalian creature, and i enjoy the warm spring sun on my face. i know that sometimes the transition to spring can be difficult, and this spring has been more difficult than most (politically, personally, astrologically), but our bodies can still feel simple pleasures.
this week, my darlings, let’s all remember mary oliver’s exhortation: “let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.”
